The time is now, of scented gardens and dew drenched grass, the feeling of lightness and haunting memories of the past. Its always the past we love to relive and live again...or is it? it can be coloured in all the hues you couldn't then, it can be scented to beat to your most loved perfume. You can make all the unwanted lines disappear and dream as it is going to last forever.

A Lazy Afternoon

He replaced the phone receiver and just sat there for a while; how the hell did she get his office number but that was what she was, anything anywhere whatever and she could do it, that was probably why she was so….special. The office voices around slowly faded and he was back at that crossroad, the biggest crossroad he had come across in life, and subsequently had taken the biggest decision of his life, or was forced to..

He had been there sitting on his bike, waiting. That was how it was he was there before her, not wanting to miss her coming. The rickshaw halts and there she is stepping out, the sun that baked him suddenly seems to soften a bit and although he cannot believe it he feels a slight cold breeze on that hot dusty summer afternoon. She always had this effect on him and it invariably brought a smile to his face as he watched her smile that smile of hers floating gracefully towards him. She lightly touched his cheek as she lightly climbed on onto the pillion seat and whispered into his ear “shall we..?” and he was the happiest guy on the planet and stayed that way for the couple of hours they spent together. The rides around the lake, the hours flying by as they sat under the trees chatting at times, at times silently watching the leaves rippling in the mild breeze. The lazy afternoons at the apartment, feeling her so close to him, the heavenly smell of her, although she never disclosed the perfume, he wanted to believe it wasn’t the perfume it was her smell. It was those moments he wanted to stretch into a lifetime.

He was a research student and he tried keeping the afternoons free, she couldn’t make it other times and especially not on weekends. They didn’t question each other much; complete acceptance was something that came naturally although there didn’t seem much that they hated about each other. At times as he dropped her off at the rickshaw stand and rode home he did think about the future and it did scare him. There was too much stacked against the relationship. She was older to him for one, and the other was she was married. She never spoke about her hubby, Satish and he never asked. She looked extremely happy as she spent the afternoons with him and nothing else mattered, for now.

Then it happened, she didn’t turn up on Monday, he was never supposed to call her, she was the one who made the calls. As afternoon turned to late evening he just couldn’t help it. He called from a public number, she answered the call. “He knows” she said as soon as she heard his voice. He didn’t know what to say. “Are you ok. .Did he..?” he managed to blurt out. “No, he was calm, he has known for some time…he just kept it to himself till he could shift us to someplace else..we are moving.” He panicked, he was living as if he would never have to face this reality and now it was there, staring him in the face. She told him he will have to wait for her to call him back and no, she did not want him to come to her place, it would make things difficult for Satish. He listened and obeyed as he always did. That was the last he heard from her. She was gone, taking a part of him..

Now, five years later, she calls and still sounds the same, no apologies no explanations. She is in town and wants to meet she says, now sitting there at his desk in the middle of a busy office day he prepares to take the afternoon off, something he hasn’t done since joining here 4 years back, and it sends a thrill through him. The bike is long gone, he now drives a sedan and parks himself at the same place he was used to waiting for her five years back, 10 mins and the rickshaw halts. She steps out, looks around seeing him sitting there smiles…its still the same. As the sun softens she walks across and something inside him stirs, and he is happy again…for how long he will be he doesn’t know, but it doesn’t bother him now. He is a happy man again….

The 5 tibetans

Two thousand years ago, Tibetan monks claimed that aging could be reversed. They developed the Rites, by condensing 21 yoga exercises into 5. What would easily take a couple of hours to perform, could then be completed in 10-20 minutes. It was not uncommon for Tibetan monks to live to be 120 years of age, while still enjoying exceptional health!

The Five Tibetan Rites are something that have not just intrigued but have also amazed me with their possibilities, and although there exist lots of online resourses I felt the need to put together my own version outlining the technique, possible scientific explanations and experiences .
